A good video from youtube, discussing using the EV to solve the energy crisis in a logical manner. As many say it seems not practical and impossible to works towards implementing the EV, hearing a logical approach was interesting. Check it out and see what you think.
Nick, I finally got a chance to watch the video post. Interesting thoughts and I agree that electric vehicles will become a very solid component of our future. We definitely need to focus on ways to expand power creation. I think that algal fuels pose another component as a petroleum substitute - check out some of the videos and links in alternative energy here.
Another component is energy deregulation. This is enabling competition among electricity providers, which is driving down costs. Additionally, this is enabling expansion of "green" power generation. Take a look at the "Energy Deregulation Simplified" video that I have posted here on thermalchat.net as well.
How did you find the video? Do you own an electric vehicle today? I'm interested to hear back from you and get your thoughts as well... thanks for sharing!
Sorry I haven't replied in awhile, but I'll answer Steve and Administration all in one reply. I actually currently use a bike as my transportation, so no emissions from me haha. The biggest issue with the EV at present is the price. Especially with current economic conditions, the price is too high for many to make the switch from the combustion engine vehicle. I haven't looked much into long-range EV's, but these will most certainly be needed to facilitate an adoption on a country-wide level. The "gas" stations are everywhere though. Electrical outlets are everywhere and this could certainly make "refueling" easier. Until the EV gets government backing, no major marketshare will be gained though. Sole effort on the part of car manufacturers will likely result in further financial struggle on their part. My hope is that the government will do their part before we are forced to make a move, with pollution issues and an over-dependence on foreign oil pressing to become serious problems.
